Fruits festival- 2026

The Department of Sociology, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), successfully organized the Fruits Festival 2026 on 30 June 2026, bringing together distinguished guests, faculty members, administrative officials, and students in a vibrant celebration of Bangladesh’s rich fruit heritage.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. The program was further enriched by the presence of Professor Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Treasurer; Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin (TAS), NGP, psc (Retd.), Registrar; Professor Dr. M. Shahidullah, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS); respected Chairpersons of various departments; and distinguished administrative officials of the university.

The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. The event aimed to promote awareness of the nutritional, cultural, and environmental significance of fruits, particularly indigenous varieties that form an integral part of Bangladesh’s biodiversity and food culture. Discussions during the program highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting local fruits to support healthy lifestyles and sustainable environmental practices.

Professor Dr. Abul Hossain, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology and Session Chair, emphasized the value of organizing such initiatives to encourage awareness about indigenous fruits, nutrition, and healthy living.
