Freshers’ Orientation Fall 2026- Department of Socioogy, GUB

The Department of Sociology, Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized the Freshers’ Orientation Fall 2026 on 27 September 2026 in collaboration with the Green University Social Bonding Club. The program was arranged to warmly welcome the newly admitted students and provide them with essential academic and institutional guidance as they begin their university journey.

The program commenced following all official protocols with an introductory session for the freshers. The faculty members of the Department of Sociology warmly welcomed the new students and presented each of them with thoughtful gifts, including a mug and a flower, as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. M Shahidullah, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring speech, he highlighted the importance and growing relevance of sociology in understanding society and addressing contemporary social issues. He also discussed the diverse academic and professional opportunities available to sociology graduates and encouraged the students to pursue their studies with dedication, critical thinking, and a strong commitment to social development.

Dr. Ahsan Habib, Assistant Professor and Moderator of the Green University Mentorship Program, delivered an encouraging speech for the newcomers. He introduced the students to the university’s mentorship program and familiarized them with their respective mentors, emphasizing the importance of academic guidance and meaningful interaction throughout their university life.

Humayun Kabir, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, provided the freshers with essential information regarding course registration, class schedules, academic procedures, and other matters related to their academic journey. Alongside the newly admitted students, a significant number of current students also attended the program and actively participated in the event, creating a welcoming and engaging environment.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Abul Hossain, Chairperson, Department of Sociology. He emphasized the importance of the orientation program in helping students become familiar with their academic environment and highlighted the role of education in shaping both academic and personal development. He encouraged the freshers to pursue their studies sincerely, cultivate good values, and aspire to become responsible, ethical, and compassionate human beings.

The Freshers’ Orientation Fall 2026 provided a meaningful platform for welcoming the new students, fostering interaction between students and faculty members, and helping the freshers begin their academic journey at the Department of Sociology with confidence and enthusiasm.
