Celebrating Fruits Festival -2024

 

We are delighted to inform you that the Department of Sociology of the Green University of Bangladesh organized a Fruits Festival today, June 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Room G-108 of our campus.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, and Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh. Among the distinguished attendees were Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, distinguished professor and ex-vice-chancellor of the Green University of Bangladesh; Prof. Khawaza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Treasurer; Captain (Navy) S M Salahuddin NGP, psc, MBA (LPR), Registrar; and Prof. Dr. M Shahidullah, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Green University of Bangladesh. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abul Hossain, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology & Anthropology.

Additionally, Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Professor Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Chairperson of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; and Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan, Proctor of the Green University of Bangladesh, participated in the festival. Notably, teachers and students from Salimuddin Chowdhary University College, Abdul Haque Bhuiyan International School & College, and Abdul Haque Bhuiyan International School & College also joined the program.

The festival showcased a tantalizing array of native fruits, including mango, jackfruit, lychee, papaya, banana, dragon fruit, apple, grape, pineapple, java plum, guava, cherry, jamrul, pomegranate, and muskmelon. Each fruit, bursting with unique flavors and vibrant colors, tells a story of the land and its people.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is deeply committed to preserving and promoting the traditions and culture of Bangladesh. The annual Fruit Festival is a testament to this dedication. By highlighting the nation's agricultural heritage, the department aims to instill a sense of pride and cultural awareness in students. The festival is more than just a display of fruits; it is a celebration of the cultural identity that these fruits represent.

 

The festival is a collaborative effort, organized by the Social Bonding Club, a student organization within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. The club plays a crucial role in planning and executing the event, ensuring that it runs smoothly and achieves its educational and cultural objectives. Their enthusiasm and dedication are instrumental in bringing the festival to life each year.
